The ability to install applications on the iPhone bypassing the App Store was confirmed

Bloomberg: iOS 17 will allow you to install apps from other sources

iPhone users will be allowed to install apps bypassing the App Store. It is reported by Bloomberg.

According to agency journalist Mark Gurman, a new feature may appear in iOS 17, a new operating system for the iPhone, which is expected to be announced on June 5. Thus, Apple will comply with the law passed by the European Parliament, which obliges to allow the installation of applications from other sources.

Gurman confirmed that developers will be able to earn more on their products, since they will not have to pay a commission of 15-30 percent. However, the specialist could not tell how exactly the new function will work. The author noted that Apple will be able to allow only pre-approved programs and services to be installed on the iPhone.

The fact that Apple can allow installation of applications bypassing the App Store was first reported by Bloomberg in mid-December 2022. Then insiders suggested that the new feature would be available only in the EU.

In mid-April, an insider under the nickname @analyst941 announced that Apple could allow the installation of applications on the iPhone and iPad, bypassing the App Store moderation. The third party app download option is available on Android.
