Eco-activist climbed on the pool table and stained it with paint at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield
The World Snooker Championship match in Sheffield between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry was disrupted by an environmental activist. It is reported by The Guardian.
On April 17, during a meeting, a representative of Just Stop Oil, an environmental movement that advocates stopping fossil fuel production in the UK, climbed onto a pool table and smeared it with orange paint.
Due to the actions of the activist, the meeting had to be postponed for a day. Another representative of Just Stop Oil tried to disrupt the meeting between Mark Allen and Fang Zhengyi in a similar way, but the guards managed to prevent her. Both activists were detained by the police.
The 2023 World Snooker Championship runs from 15 April to 1 May. The total prize fund of the competition is almost 2.4 million pounds.
