After Graham Potter’s departure, Chelsea are in talks with Luis Enrique, former Spain coach

According to the Spanish newspaper Aso Chelsea negotiates with Luis Enrique, former coach of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, to succeed Graham Potter, who was dropped from the team last Sunday, after losing to Aston Villa, for English Championship.

According to the publication, the former player of Barcelona and Lazio, Iván de la Peña, is the one who is intermediating the conversations between the parties.

Recently, in an interview with the podcast BE Gijon, the 52-year-old Spaniard said he dreamed of managing a competitive Premier League side.

“I would like to work in England. But I don’t see myself in the Premier League in July because I would like to go to a club that can do important things and that is very difficult. I wouldn’t go to any English team,” he said.

Luis Enrique is not the only name that the English club’s board has on their radar. Julian Nagelsmann, recently fired from Bayern, has emerged as the favorite to take charge of the London team.

Chelsea are still concerned, however, that Nagelsmann is still young – he is 35. In addition, the coach has a clause in his contract with the German club and any club interested in having Nagelsmann before the summer window will have to pay a fee to Bayern.

According to Sports worldtherefore, in addition to Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi, from Brighton, and Mauricio Pochettino, formerly of Tottenham and currently without a club, are being asked by the team that is in 11th place in the English Championship, with 38 points.

Until the new Chelsea coach is defined, Spanish assistant Bruno Saltor is in charge of the team on an interim basis. He debuts this Tuesday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Stamford Bridge, against Liverpool, in a delayed match for the eighth round of the English Premier League.
