Bayern thrash rivals Dortmund in Bundesliga ‘final’ to take lead

At the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich hosted Borussia Dortmund this Saturday and won the “early final” of the German Championship by 4 to 2. The two teams were separated by a point at the top of the table and, with the victory against the rival, the Bavarians took the lead.

Goalkeeper Gregor Kobbel scored an own goal and Thomas Muller scored twice in the first half. In the final stage, Kingsley Coman doubled, and Emre Can and Donyell Malen discounted. The result took Bayern Munich to 55 points at the top of the Bundesliga, two more than Dortmund. The match also marked the debut of coach Thomas Tuchel in charge of Bavaria.

First step

The first minutes of the game were balanced until, at 12 minutes, defender Upamecano made a launch from the defense field, goalkeeper Kobbel left the area and pierced the shot. The ball passed with a small deflection and only stopped in the back of the net to open the scoring for Bayern.

From the goalkeeper’s failure, Borussia Dortmund lost confidence and let the opponent dominate the match. In the 17th minute, after a corner kick, De Ligt headed in and Muller appeared at the second post to send the goal.

In the 22nd minute, Dortmund tried to play in defense, missed the ball and Leroy Sané took chances from outside the area. Author of the “chicken” in the first goal, Kobbel spread it to the side, but handed it to Muller’s feet to expand and score the third.

Second stage

On the way back from the break, Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzić made changes to the squad in search of a reaction. Despite managing to exchange more passes, the visitors did not threaten Bayern Munich, who scored the fourth goal in a counterattack led by Sané. The German winger found a beautiful pass for Coman to invade the area and touch the goal in the fifth minute.

In the 13th minute, Choupo-Mouting received a pass from coverage, dominated with his chest and shot with a volley to score a great goal, but it was canceled for offside. In the 25th minute, Jude Bellingham conceded a penalty from Serge Gnabry and Emre Can hit the penalty to reduce the disadvantage.

In the final minutes, Gnabry even scored a beautiful goal from coverage, but it was also canceled due to an irregular position. In the 44th minute, Donyell Malen scored with Raphael Guerreiro and the Dutchman hit the first shot in the corner of goalkeeper Yan Sommer, closing the score by 4 to 2.
