Arsenal thrash Leeds with two from Gabriel Jesus and maintain advantage at the top of the English

This Saturday, the Arsenal beat Leeds 4-1, in a match valid for the 29th round of the English Championship, which took place at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Jesus (twice), Ben White and Granit Xhaka scored for the hosts, while Rasmus Kristensen scored for Leeds.

With the result, the leader Arsenal reached 72 points and maintained the difference of 8 points for Manchester City, second in the English, who thrashed Liverpool earlier this Saturday. On the other hand, Leeds remains in 16th place in the competition, with 26 points, one more than Bournemouth, the first club in the relegation zone.

The two teams return to the field next Sunday, for the 30th round of the Premier League. At 10am (Brasília time), Leeds face Crystal Palace, at Elland Road. Arsenal, on the other hand, face Liverpool, at 12:30, at Anfield.

The game

Despite the great campaign in the English Premier League, the home team struggled to create goal opportunities in the first half. Leeds stayed closed and made life difficult for Arsenal.

However, in the 10th minute, Arteta’s charges managed to wrap the opposing defense and Xhaka found Gabriel Jesus free in the small area. The Brazilian, however, headed wide. At 31, Leeds responded with Harrison, who received it from Summerville, and sent a first-rate kick, requiring Ramsdale to make a beautiful save.

A minute later, Gabriel Jesus made a beautiful individual move and conceded a penalty, after being brought down by Ayling inside the area. In the penalty kick, the Brazilian opened the scoring for the English leaders. That was also his first goal after the injury that sidelined him for four months.

In the second half, at two minutes, Gabriel Martinelli made a good move near the bottom line and crossed for Ben White to push for the goal, expanding the advantage of the hosts. At 9, Gabriel Jesus received it in the small area and scored Arsenal’s third in the match.

In the 30th minute, the visitors took advantage of Rasmus Kristensen, who took advantage of the ball and corrected the first shot. The ball deflected off Zinchenko and landed in the back of the goal.

At 39 minutes, Xhaka took advantage of the cross and headed to the opposing goal to mark Arsenal’s fourth, giving final numbers to the match.
