German media say Bayern will sack Julian Nagelsmann

O Bayern Munchen will sack coach Julian Nagelsmann, just over two weeks before the start of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League against Manchester City, the newspaper published on Thursday Bild and the magazine Kicker.

According to information from the BildNagelsmann’s replacement should be the also German Thomas Tuchel, who in 2021 led Chelsea to the Champions title and who was fired from the London club earlier this season.

In turn, the Kicker stated that there have already been contacts between the Bavarian club and the 49-year-old coach.

In the last round of the German Championship before the Fifa dates, Bayern lost the lead of the table to Borussia Dortmund.

The Bavarian giants were beaten 2-1 away by Bayer Leverkusen, which caused outrage in the club’s board.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic was especially critical of what he saw as a lack of mentality and attitude.

Already under pressure at the end of the 2021-2022 season, Nagelsmann remained in charge thanks to the Bundesliga title.

In the current season, the team has so far its worst performance in 11 years in the German Championship, with 52 points after 25 rounds.

Nagelsmann arrived at Bayern Munich in mid-2021 from RB Leipzig to replace Hansi Flick, who took over the German national team. His contract with the Bavarian club runs until June 2026.
