French hockey player Stefan Da Costa said that it is difficult for legionnaires in the KHL because of the pressure
The French striker of the Avtomobilist Continental Hockey League club Stefan Da Costa, in an interview with the Slippery Ice YouTube channel, spoke about the difficulties of playing in Russia.
“It’s hard for the legionnaires in this league. They rarely stay for many years. There is always pressure. In this sense, it is easier for Russian players, there is less of it, ”said the athlete. He added that he did not agree with the opinion that hockey in Europe and America is a pleasure, and in Russia it is hard work. “If taken seriously, it will always be work,” concluded Da Costa.
In the 2022/2023 season, Avtomobilist reached the 1/8 finals of the KHL playoffs. In the knockout series, the team from Yekaterinburg lost to Metallurg Magnitogorsk with a score of 3-4.
On March 15, Sparta Prague goalkeeper Jakub Kovarzh, who played for Avtomobilist, compared the size of bonuses in Russia and Europe. “In Russia, they gave good financial rewards for reaching the playoffs, so I could afford a car. A title with Sparta would not have brought me this, ”he shared.
