Vice President of the KHL Valery Kamensky said that Fan ID is definitely not needed in hockey
Vice President of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Valery Kamensky answered a question about the possibility of introducing Fan ID at league matches. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Kamensky said that a fan’s passport is definitely not needed in hockey. “What purpose would it serve at hockey games? Fan ID is a personal initiative of the football management. There is no need to try this initiative on hockey,” he stressed.
Earlier, State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Sergei Obukhov said that he had sent a request to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to cancel Fan ID. Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov supported the initiative and added that “it is necessary to stop trying to put an electronic tag on our citizens under various pretexts.”
The State Duma adopted the law on Fan ID in December 2021. To enter the stands at the Russian Premier League games, each fan must have a personalized card. In response to this, active fans of the RPL clubs, except for the Grozny Akhmat, announced a boycott of league matches.
