Uruguay confirms that the finals of the Libertadores and Sudamericana Cups will be played with 100% capacity

In Montevideo, the presence of a large number of Brazilian fans is expected, who must present the vaccination certificate against COVID-19

The finals of the South American Cup and the Liberators cup football will be played with full capacity, announced this Tuesday the secretary of the Uruguayan Presidency, Alvaro Delgado, during a press conference with sports authorities.

Delgado spoke at a conference at the Executive Tower, the Uruguayan Government headquarters, together with the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera; the national secretary of sport, Sebastian Bauzá; the director of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) Jorge Casales; and the general secretary of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), Monserrat Jiménez.

“The events of the finals will be with 100% capacity with vaccinated spectators. It is an enormous step towards the process of the new normal that the president (Luis Lacalle Pou) spoke at the time ”, announced the representative of the Uruguayan Executive.

Delgado recognized that the country “You are going to live a historic moment, unique, unprecedented, with three almost simultaneous endings and it will be done at a time where Uruguay has a health status that allows this type of event world attraction ”.

In addition, the final of the women’s Libertadores between the Colombian Independiente Santa Fe and another team that is decided this Tuesday in Asunción will be played on Sunday 21 in the Gran Parque Central, also in the Uruguayan capital.

“In that first meeting (with the presidents of Uruguay, Lacalle Pou, and Conmebol, Alejandro Dominguez), we never thought this was going to happen. It will be a before and after. The authorities foresee the arrival of about 60,000 tourists -Mostly Brazilians- who must, by current protocol, enter Uruguay with the complete vaccination certificate and a negative PCR done within 72 hours prior to entering the country. (D)
