Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva spoke about the impact of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing on her life. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
“What happened at the Olympics strengthened me dramatically. I suddenly became an adult. It will be strange … but now I am calmer about such things and have become more confident in myself, ”said the athlete. She admitted that she had entered a recession in her career, but this is a temporary moment.
Earlier on Sunday, March 5, Valieva placed second in the Russian Grand Prix final with 241.76 points. Adelia Petrosyan became the winner with 255.01 points. In third place is Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (241.61).
At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal involving an athlete. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
