Midfielder Toni Kroos made controversial statements about the Real Madrid of this season. Participating in the podcast Just take a lookthe German criticized the team’s shirt, which is based on a polo model, with buttons on the collar.
“This season we also have a neck. A polo shirt is not a football shirt. This goes out to all manufacturers—this is big bullshit,” she said.
The 33-year-old player assessed that the shirt bothers him during matches. Kroos also made remarks about the buttons, one of the most controversial details on the uniform.
“Collared shirts are not good, they are uncomfortable and not pleasant. And then you have two buttons up there. They just need to add a few more buttons and we can start playing with a shirt on, or what? It’s not cool,” she stated.
Despite criticism of the shirt for the 2022/23 season, the Real Madrid player chose his favorite uniform for the Spanish club. The 2019/20 outfit earned a lot of praise from Kroos, who shared a curious fact about the outfit.
“Sometimes I didn’t even want to change. I wanted to take them home, even at the age of 60, because I knew that at some point they would be taken from my hands”, he confessed.
The German has been with Real Madrid since 2014. In almost 10 years with the team, Kroos has an impressive title record in Spain: three Spanish Championships, four Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups and three Spanish Super Cups for the club.
