Analyst Magomedov: constant connection to the power supply does not harm the laptop
Subject to a number of conditions, the constant connection of the laptop to the mains will not be able to cause much harm to modern technology. So, in an interview with Lenta.ru, Shamil Magomedov, head of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems of the Institute of Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies of the RTU MIREA, assessed the consequences.
The laptop cannot “recharge”, that is, as soon as the battery reaches 100 percent, charging stops automatically

Magomedov noted that the safety guarantor for any equipment is the use of the original charger in a reliable electrical network.
“Grey chargers may not be able to cope with a power surge, overheat equipment or even break it. Faults in any part of the electrical network can also cause serious problems for the charger, including the possibility of a fire, ”he said.
The analyst also said that sometimes on the Internet you can find tips on removing the laptop battery for a period of extended use when connected to the mains.
“I would recommend treating this practice with caution. In many modern laptops, the battery, in principle, cannot be obtained without the use of a certain tool, and attempts to disassemble the device are guaranteed to lead to its breakdown, ”Magomedov is convinced.
In cases where the battery is removable, be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions. Some firms do give such recommendations, but usually we are talking about outdated laptop models, he said.
In addition, it does not make practical sense to specifically discharge the laptop battery to zero.
Full discharge, on the contrary, negatively affects the battery, the minimum limit is 10-20 percent
