World champion De Paul says the 2022 team is the best in Argentina’s history

In an interview for TyC Sports this Tuesday, midfielder Rodrigo De Paul declared that he considers the Argentina 2022 world champion the best national team in the history of the country. The statement generated controversy among the local press, generating comparisons with Maradona’s team, winner in 1986.

“I think we ended up being, forgive me everyone, the best team our country has had”, he said.

Despite the blunt statement, the 28-year-old explained that the reigning champions form a better team than the others, not just relying on individual talent. De Paul also claimed that the current group beat other champion teams.

“I don’t say it out of ego, far from it. I think the team had better players than we did, but as a team we beat all the current champions there, the last American champion (Brazil), the last European champion (Italy) and the last world champion (France)”, reiterated.

currently in Atletico Madrid, De Paul was a starter and an important part of Lionel Scaloni’s squad. The midfielder played in all seven games and started in the final against France. The athlete revealed by Racing has also played for Valencia and Udinese.
