Defense of Daniel Alves says: whistleblower injuries “are not compatible with rape”

The defense of right-back Daniel Alves works with the version that the Brazilian had a consensual relationship with the woman who accuses him of rape in a nightclub in Spain at the end of last year. This Thursday, at a hearing in the third section of the Court of Barcelona, the player’s lawyers contested some evidence.

According to the diary The vanguard, the lawyer Cristóbal Martell – who represents Daniel Alves – assured that “the young woman did not present injuries compatible with rape”. He also pointed out that the “medical report from the Clínic hospital did not identify vaginal lesions compatible with dry sexual intercourse; neither lesions nor characteristic marks of a reduction by force”.

On top of that, the person responsible for defending Daniel Alves recalled that the marks on the knee presented by the woman would be due to the small dimensions of the bathroom at the nightclub.

This Thursday, a hearing was held to discuss the provisional release of Daniel Alves, who has been held in custody since January 20. But, so far, the defense has not yet received a positive signal, even insisting that the player will be available to the Spanish Justice as long as necessary.

The team representing the woman, in turn, contests the provisional release, explaining that it would be “an attack on the psychological integrity of the 23-year-old girl who is still away from her activities and undergoing psychiatric treatment”.
