FIFA announced that it will donate R$ 5.2 million to the victims of the earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria. According to the entity, the funds will be used to purchase “essential humanitarian items” and to provide temporary shelters to those affected by the tremors.

According to the note published on the institution’s official website, the definition of the items and aid to be provided took place after consulting the Turkish Football Association and the Syrian Football Association, a movement that was also carried out with NGOs.
The publication also states that FIFA “will continue to collaborate” with the associations of the countries and that it will monitor the situation, in order to map out possible new actions.
The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have left more than 40,000 dead, in addition to injured and homeless. As a result, the Turkish Championship was paralyzed.
