Here is the overall ranking of the World Cup after the competitions in Lake Placid

The first individual World Cup competition in Lake Placid ended with the victory of Germany’s Andreas Wellinger, which meant that Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud did not win a fifth World Cup competition in a row. Dawid Kubacki made up nine points to his main rival thanks to the fact that he took fifth place in the competition, and Halvor Egner Granerud was in seventh place. In the USA, the cards were mostly dealt by the wind, which was visible both in the Saturday and Sunday competition. What is the overall ranking of the World Cup?

WC in Lake Placid. Żyła failed, Kubacki loses more and more to Graneruda

A big surprise was the absence of Slovenian Anze Laniska in the competition, because the jumper had problems with the zipper in his overalls and could not start in the competition. A set of Poles advanced to Sunday’s individual competition in Lake Placid, but only three made it through the first round. In the first series, Jan Habdas (32nd), Paweł Wąsek (44th) and Tomasz Pilch (50th) were eliminated. The highest-ranked Pole after the first round was Dawid Kubacki, who was 13th after a jump of 118 m – Piotr Żyła was 18th and Aleksander Zniszczoł – 25th.

In the second round, Piotr Żyła failed a lot, jumping only 110 m and falling from 18th to 25th place. The Swiss Killian Peier (104 m) and the Austrian Jan Hoerl (97.5 m) were also weaker, thanks to which Aleksander Zniszczol advanced to the 21st place in the competition. A significant improvement was recorded by Dawid Kubacki, who jumped 129.5 m and finished the competition in seventh place. The competition in Lake Placid was won by Halvor Egner Granerud ahead of Andreas Wellinger and Stefan Kraft.

Thanks to the win, the Norwegian jumper increased his advantage over Dawid Kubacki in the general classification of the World Cup to 293 points – it is worth noting that before Sunday’s competition this advantage was 229 points. Austrian Stefan Kraft is getting closer to entering the top three of the general classification, reducing the gap to Slovenian Anze Laniska from 78 to 18 points.
