Russian UFC champion Islam Makhachev said he was ready to fight with any opponent
The Russian champion of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Islam Makhachev commented on the victory over the Australian Alexander Volkanovski and the first defense of the championship belt. His words are given on the UFC page in Twitter.
“Whether you like it or not, I am the best fighter in the world, regardless of the weight class. I need a real applicant, not a fake one. I am ready to fight with any opponent, ”said the athlete.
Makhachev also appreciated the performance of the Australian in this fight. “This is such a small but very tough opponent. I was surprised how prepared he was. I thought everything would be much easier on the floor, ”said the Russian. He added that he was very pleased with the victory, and assured that he needed just such opponents.
Earlier Sunday, February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski at UFC 284 by unanimous decision. Thus, he defended the organization’s lightweight title for the first time and will now lead the ranking of the promotion’s best fighters.
In total, in his professional career, Makhachev suffered one defeat and won 24 victories. Volkanovski has 25 wins and two losses.
