On February 5, Hong Kong FC hosted the Resources Capital team as part of the 10th round of the Hong Kong Premier League. After the visitor’s goal in the 68th minute, the hosts were losing 0:1, and in addition, from the 89th minute they played short-handed after seeing a second yellow card, and consequently a red card, by one of their players. Hardly anyone could have expected that the Hong Kong FC team would be saved by the goalkeeper.

Hong Kong FC had a corner in the last minute of added time. As it happens in the case of an unfavorable result, the goalkeeper of the losing team wanders into the opponent’s penalty area. So did Freddie Toomer. If a goalkeeper scores a goal in these circumstances, it is usually with a header. This time was different, as Toomer showed off a beautiful “scissors” shot.

Freddie Tower is a 30-year-old goalkeeper who started his football adventure at FC Eastleigh, currently in the fifth tier, a club from the city of the same name, located near Southampton. I never managed to make a career in England, so since 2012 he has been performing in China.

With this goal, Hong Kong FC drew Resources Capital 1-1. Toomer’s team, after this meeting, maintained the 4th position in the league table and loses six points to the 2nd place in qualifying for the Asian Champions League. Resources Capital is in 7th place with 11 points. There are eight games left in the current season.
