Czech hockey player Jaromir Jagr broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for goals in his professional career

Czech hockey player Jaromir Jagr, playing for the Kladno club, set a record for goals in his professional career. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

In the match of the championship of the Czech Republic against “Trshinets” (4:5), 50-year-old Jagr scored the 1099th goal in his career, taking into account matches for the national team. Thus, he broke the record previously held by Canadian Wayne Gretzky (1098 goals).

At the club level, Jagr won the Stanley Cup twice with the Pittsburgh Penguins. As part of the Czech national team, he won the Olympic Games and twice became the world champion.

Four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Edmonton Oilers, Gretzky continues to lead the National Hockey League (NHL) top scorer list. He has 894 regular league goals to his credit. In second place is the Russian captain of the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, who has 812 goals.
