Friday’s competition of mixed teams on the hill in Willingen was held in very lottery conditions. The proper conduct of the competition was hindered by the wind, which resulted in very dangerous pictures in the first series. In the Slovenian team, Timi Zajc was the last to sit on the beam, who flew as far as 161.5 meters.
Expert after the lottery competition in Willingen. “Jumping has become much more difficult to control”
According to the homologation certificate of the FIS hill, Krzysztof Horecki, Zajc was helped not only by the favorable wind for skiing, but also by the profile of the hill in Willingen. – The h/n coefficient, i.e. the distance between the threshold and the K point vertically and horizontally, is 0.590. For comparison, on Wielka Krokiew it is 0.575. It’s a big difference, and in Zakopane the profile is modern, the hill was modernized just a few years ago. It is strangely steep in Willingen for such a large facility – he said in an interview with TVP Sport. It is worth noting that the profile of Muehlenkopfschanze has not been changed since the beginning of the 21st century.
– Equipment and jumpers today are very sensitive to wind conditions, a small change makes one land on the boule and the other on the bottom of the hill. It’s not like after Zajc’s jump, we clearly know that the facility in Willingen is to be demolished. It is jumping as a sport that has become much more difficult for the jury to control today – added Horecki.

The organizers decided that the weather conditions did not allow for a second series. On the same basis, it was decided to postpone the qualifications scheduled for Friday. They will take place on Saturday at 14:45, in place of the planned training series before Saturday’s competition. The rest of the competition schedule on Saturday and Sunday has not changed.
