France pointed to double standards in the approach to Russia’s participation in the Olympics

French politician Filippo pointed out double standards for Russia’s admission to the Olympics

When discussing the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, a policy of double standards is used. To this on your Twitter indicated Florian Filippo, leader of the French Patriots movement.

He recalled that in 2004, no one questioned the presence of athletes from the United States, although at that time the country illegally invaded Iraq, which led to countless casualties.

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on January 25 called for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status, while proposing not to allow athletes who actively supported the special operation in Ukraine. The IOC later issued a new statement, stating that the concept of countries representing countries under a neutral flag had worked well and was being discussed by committee members.

In response to this statement, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Gutzeit threatened to boycott the 2024 Olympic Games. He was supported by Polish Minister of Sports Kamil Bortnichuk and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Latvia Georges Tikmers.

According to Bortnichuk, about 40 states oppose the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Paris Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
