A week away from Real’s debut at the World Cup, Ancelotti reiterates criticism of the excess of games on the calendar

One week before the premiere of Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup, coach Carlo Ancelotti, reiterated this Wednesday his criticism of the competition calendar, stating that the excess of games could affect the players.

“Dosing players is important because it’s an incredible schedule,” said Ancelotti in a press conference prior to Thursday’s game against Valencia, for Spanish Championship.

“It’s difficult because LaLiga wants to do its own thing, the Federation wants to do its own thing, Fifa wants to do its own thing, Uefa wants to do its own thing… It affects the players because we can’t have rest days”, explained the coach.

“We have to stop for a moment and think that if the players don’t rest, we close,” he said.

“It’s a very serious issue on the calendar. We are very excited to play and the players like it, but there is a limit to everything and I think that now the calendar limit is being exceeded”, concluded Ancelotti.

For the 17th round of the national, delayed, Real Madrid receives Valencia, at 5 pm (Brasília time) this Thursday, at the Santiago Bernabéu. Three days later, on Sunday, the Meringue team visits Mallorca and, finally, has its first appointment at the Club World Cup next Wednesday (8), in Morocco.
