The condition of the hospitalized Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov is improving every day. However, there is a risk of finger amputation. This was announced in a conversation with Lenta.ru by a source familiar with the situation.
Earlier, StarHit, citing a source in the hospital, reported that Roman Kostomarov is conscious, does not speak, but is already aware of everything. The source noted that the athlete faces amputation of fingers.
“Roman’s condition is improving every day. Now his life is no longer in danger. But even what is written (the threat of amputation – approx. “Tapes.ru”), exist. At the moment, no operations have been performed and are not planned in the near future. Everyone is fighting!” – said the interlocutor of “Lenta.ru”.
On January 24, information appeared that Kostomarov regained consciousness and began to talk.
The improvement in Kostomarov’s condition became known on January 19. It was noted that doctors are thinking about disconnecting the skater from the blood oxygenation machine (ECMO).
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. The Olympic champion was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia combined with influenza B. Later, the athlete’s father announced that Roman had been transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka.
