Another failure for Real Madrid. Barcelona departs “Royal”

The Sunday match between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad was an absolute hit of the 19th round of La Liga. The second and third teams of the table faced each other, still having a good chance of winning the championship title.

Advantage of the favorites

From the very beginning of the match, it was clear that Carlo Ancelotti’s players would lead the game. Karim Benzema and co. not only controlled the possession of the ball decisively, but also seriously threatened the goal guarded by Alejandro Remiro every few minutes, coming close to scoring and taking the lead.

There was a clear difference between classes in the first half. When the team from the Basque country had only one shot off target, the “Royals” hit the target three times, adding five missed shots. Despite this, the scoreboard still read 0-0.

In the second half, although the team from Santiago Bernabeu still clearly dominated, the lower-ranked team from Sociedad began to look for a chance for themselves. However, it was definitely not enough to force the defense of the hosts, who tried to win the match until the very end.

Unfortunately for Real Madrid fans, their favorites were extremely ineffective today. In particular, Vinicius Junior had very big problems with taking advantage of the emerging opportunities, who could have successfully scored at least two goals for his team today. Ultimately, however, the match ended with a score of 0:0.

Another stumble of the “Royal” is great news for FC Barcelona. Xavi’s players with Robert Lewandowski at the forefront, winning on Saturday against Girona, managed to jump away from the most dangerous rival in the La Liga table by five points, which in the middle of the season may not be a huge advance, but it gives a certain sense of security.

The two top teams in the Spanish league will play their next matches on February 1 and 2. First, FC Barcelona will travel to Seville, where they will play Betis. A day later, Real Madrid host Valencia at home.
