Changes, changes. The saint must look back. WTA rankings after the Australian Open

This year’s edition of the Australian Open brought many surprises. From the top ten of the WTA rankings, only Jessica Pegula and the winner Aryna Sabalenka reached the quarterfinals. Most of the world leaders, including Iga ¦wiątek, lost at the stage of the 1/8 finals of the tournament. So it’s not surprising that there have been some significant changes in the WTA rankings.

Sabalenka is the new runner-up in the WTA ranking. Swiatek needs to look back

The new runner-up was Aryna Sabalenka, who overtook Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian has held this position since September last year and has repeatedly announced that the goal for this year is to overtake Christmas. In AO, she disappointed and was eliminated in the second round after losing to Marketa Vondrusova.

Sabalenka’s promotion is a big thing, because she was fifth before the tournament. She secured second place after reaching the final. Thanks to the win, she has 6,100 points and has further reduced the difference in points to Świątek (over 4,000 points), but above all, she has increased her advantage over Jabeur and Pegula.

Another beneficiary of the great performance at the AO is also the second finalist Jelena Rybakina. Kazaszka has moved up 15 places and is currently on the highest 10th place in her career. Weronika Kudermietowa dropped out of the top.

The biggest AO winner in terms of the WTA ranking, however, is Magda Linette, who advanced from the fifth ten to the best 22nd place in her career. No one from the top 30 of the WTA ranking made a bigger jump
