Russian biathlete Vasily Tomshin said he was ready to compete in a neutral status
Russian biathlete Vasily Tomshin speculated about the possible admission of Russians to international competitions in a neutral status. It is reported by “Match TV”.
The athlete said that he was ready to perform without a flag and an anthem. “It is important for me to participate in the world’s largest competitions and compete with the best biathletes in the world. From a neutral status, my nationality will not change, everyone around will know what country I am from, ”said Tomshin.
On January 25, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) noted that they are considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is clarified that only athletes who did not support the conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
On September 16, 2022, it became known that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) has extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes, which has been going on since the beginning of March. The order will remain in effect until further notice.
