RB Leipzig beats Stuttgart, maintains its invincibility and assumes the vice-leadership of Alemão

This Friday, RB Leipzig received Stuttgart in the opening of the 18th round of the German Championshipat the Red Bull Arena, in Leipzig (ALE), and won by 2 to 1. Dominik Szoboszlai scored the home team’s goals, while Chris Fuhrich (from the penalty spot) scored.

Thus, the hosts reach 16 consecutive matches without defeat, 11 in the national competition, and assume the vice-leadership, with 35 points won. At the moment, they are just one behind leaders Bayern Munich, who are still playing in the round.

On the other hand, the visitors are bitter for the fourth consecutive game without victory – two draws and two defeats – and remain with 16 points, in 15th place – the first outside the relegation zone. However, the team could drop to Z3 if Bochum or Hertha Berlin score in the round.

On the next journey, therefore, RB Leipzig will visit Cologne, at 11:30 am (Brasília time) on Saturday (4). The following morning, also from 11:30 am, Stuttgart receives Werder Bremen.

Before that, however, the teams turn their attention to the round of 16 of the German Cup. On Wednesday, RB Leipzig faces Hoffenheim, at 2 pm, at home. At the same time, on Tuesday, Stuttgart faces Paderborn, from the German second division, away from home.

RB Leipzig’s goal against Stuttgart

The first goal of this afternoon’s clash came in the 25th minute of the first half. Dominik Szoboszlai took a powerful free-kick from outside the area. The ball did not gain height, but dropped very close to the goal and killed goalkeeper Florian Muller, entering the right corner of the goal.

On the way back from the break, the hosts extended the advantage just four minutes into the second half. After a cross barely cleared by the Stuttgart defense, André Silva took the lead at the edge of the area and, with a header, passed to Szoboslai. The Hungarian dominated and hit hard to fill the net at the Red Bull Arena.

At the time of the 23rd minute, defender Josko Gvardiol, from RB Leipzig, went to try to clear a cross, but ended up touching the ball with his hand inside the area. After analyzing the bid on the VAR monitor, the referee signaled a penalty. In the collection, Chris Fuhrich hit hard and crossed to reduce. Goalkeeper Janis Blaswich hit the side and even touched the ball, but was unable to prevent Stuttgart’s goal.
