The midfielder of Atletico MadridMarcos Llorente, will miss the team this Thursday, for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, against Real Madridafter suffering a muscle injury.
The player underwent medical tests which “confirmed that he suffered a low-grade muscle injury to the adductors”, Atletico said in a statement on Monday.
Llorente had to be substituted with discomfort in the 56th minute of the league game against Valladolid, in which the Atletico Madrid won 3-0last Saturday.
The ‘rojiblanco’ team does not specify how long Llorente will be out, limiting itself to stating that “he will start receiving physiotherapy sessions, rehabilitation training and is pending evolution”.
Llorente’s injury is a heavy blow for coach Diego Simeone ahead of derby of the King’s Cup that Atlético and Real Madrid will dispute on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabéu. The player was in the starting line-up in all of the team’s games since the break for the World Cup, playing in several positions.
According to the Spanish press, the former Real Madrid player could be sidelined for about fifteen days.
