The Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero is one step away from transferring to Racing, from Argentina, and at the age of 39 he is about to play for the first time in football in that country through a one-year contract, announced the president of the “Academia”, Victor Blanco.
“We are closing with Paolo Guerrero. This Monday he will undergo a medical check-up and, if all goes well, he will sign the contract and join the squad”, said Blanco about the link between the hero of Corinthians’ World Cup in 2012 and the Avellaneda club.
‘Predador’ Guerrero arrives from Avaí after a long and fruitful career in European, South American and Peruvian football. With Racing’s shirt, he will play in the Argentine Professional League and the Copa Libertadores.
The striker arrives with little rhythm, as he played only ten matches in the entire year of 2022, with his last match being played on October 2, when he played half an hour against Atlético-GO.
Guerrero accumulates 190 goals in 514 matches that he played for the Germans Bayern Munich and Hamburg and for the Brazilians Corinthians, Flamengo and Internacional, for which he scored his last goal, against Fluminense, on August 15, 2021.
He is the top scorer in the history of the Peruvian national team, with 37 goals scored in 102 games. He played in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and his team was runner-up in the Copa América in Brazil in 2019.
In addition, the Peruvian celebrated with Bayern Munich two Bundesligas (2004/2005 and 2005-2006), two German Cups, a League Cup and a German Super Cup, while with Corinthians he won the Club World Cup in 2012 and the 2013 South American Cup Winners’ Cup.
