Bulgarian “Levski” announced the cancellation of friendly matches with “Spartak” and “Ural”
The Bulgarian “Levski” refused to play friendly matches with the Russian “Spartak” and “Ural” during the training camp in the UAE. The statement was published on the website of the European club.
“Levski’s leadership has made the final decision not to hold the planned control meetings with Spartak and Ural. The decision has been made to ensure that the team is as prepared as possible,” the statement said. It is noted that the most important thing for the team is the unity with the fans who opposed the organization of matches with the Russians.
Meetings with Spartak and Ural were to be held on January 22 and 31, respectively. Earlier, another club, Krasnodar, announced the cancellation of the match against Levski, which was scheduled for January 17.
On February 28 last year, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
