Xavi commented on the Guardiola comparisons. The Spaniard was coached by Guardiola, now at Manchester City, for four years at Barcelona, between 2008 and 2012, and was one of the main parts of the team that was three-time national champion and two-time Champions League champion.
“That they compare me with Guardiola is already a success for everything he has given to football and to Barça. For me he is the best coach in the world, and any comparison now for me is bad. It is the results that will say whether we are doing well or not. , but for me it’s a success to be compared with him,” he said.
Another subject Xavi talked about was Messi. The coach said that he received a message wishing the Argentine luck, and tried to leave in the past the departure of the star from Barcelona.
“He sent me a message and wished me luck. I wish him the best, he’s the best player in Barcelona’s history, but he’s not there anymore. We have the players we have and we’ll work with them. Messi isn’t there anymore,” he said.
Xavi’s debut as coach at Barcelona will be on November 20, after the FIFA Data, against Espanyol, in the Spanish Championship. Currently, the Catalan club is only in ninth position, with 17 points, six behind Atlético de Madrid, fourth.
