Fitness coach Francis-Townson: even 20 minutes of physical activity is good for health
Fitness instructor Jenny Francis-Townson has revealed five options for effective workouts outside the gym. Her advice leads The Sun.
According to Francis-Townson, even 20 minutes of physical activity has a beneficial effect on the state of the cardiovascular system and mental health of a person. The trainer emphasized that there are several effective ways to provide yourself with physical activity without visiting a fitness center.
The instructor noted that cleaning (for example, mopping), gardening, walking at a fast pace and dancing to your favorite music are suitable as workouts. At high intensity, these sessions serve as a cardio load and are useful for developing endurance. In addition, you can perform a number of simple exercises with your own weight (without equipment): alternately moving your legs to the side from a standing position, squats, jumping in place. Frances-Townson added that the pace of the exercises should be as fast as possible.
According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, adults (from 18 to 64 years old) should spend at least 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week (or 75-150 minutes of vigorous intensity). The organization emphasizes that the norm can be met not only during special sports, but also when performing professional duties and household chores, as well as when moving (walking, cycling).
