Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev says he intends to fight Bivol in 2023

Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev spoke about his professional goals. His words are quoted by BoxingScene.

The athlete said he wants to get all four light heavyweight championship belts. To do this, he needs to defeat compatriot Dmitry Bivol, with whom Beterbiev intends to fight in 2023. Beterbiev added that over the past three years he has repeatedly offered Bivol to fight. However, the meeting has not yet taken place due to a delay on the part of the opponent.

In June, Beterbiev defeated American Joe Smith Jr. by TKO in the second round ahead of schedule. The Russian defended the titles of the world champion according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF), the World Boxing Council (WBC) and won the belt of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), which belonged to his opponent. This victory was the 18th in the athlete’s career. In January, he will defend titles in a duel with Briton Anthony Yarde.

In total, Beterbiev won 18 victories in his career, without suffering a single defeat. Bivol has 21 victories in 21 fights and the world light heavyweight title according to the World Boxing Association (WBA).
