The Euskal Herria Pensioners Movement will carry out activities today in the different towns of Euskadi and Navarra to celebrate the fifth anniversary of their mobilizations, which they plan to maintain because they have “strength to keep fighting”.
The collective began to gather every Monday on January 15, 2018, as stated in the manifesto for its fifth anniversary, “after many years of mistreatment of pensioners” and has brought together “thousands and thousands” of people in these years their protests in different locations.
The Pensioners Movement celebrate “what has been achieved” in these five years, among other aspects, “to repeal the IRP (of 0.25) of the 2013 PP reform, demonstrate that the public pension system is perfectly viable, repeal the Sustainability Factor and prevent new decisions from being adopted who wanted to cut pensions in half”.
“In fact, the 8.5% update that they are going to do to us this year, although it will not repair what was lost, can only be explained by the fight that we continue to maintain,” they value.
However, they stress that there is still “a thousand reasons to keep fighting”.
Among those claims is a minimum pension of 1080 eurosthat the gender gap “disappears” and put an end to various “negative aspects” that the different reforms have entailed.
