Athlete Litvinov, who confessed to doping, was disqualified for two years
Russian hammer thrower Sergei Litvinov was disqualified for doping. This was reported on the website of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (VFLA).
The athlete was suspended from the competition for two years. He is deprived of the awards won at the competitions from July 14, 2012 to February 25, 2016, including the bronze of the European Championship 2014.
Earlier on January 12, Litvinov admitted that he had been doping in 2012. “From the end of April to the end of May 2012, I took turinabol and oxandrolone. Before that, I had a 79-meter throw in February, with doping I improved the result by almost two meters, ”Litvinov said and noted that he thus benefited from the doping cover-up system in Russia.
In addition to personal bronze, Litvinov won gold and silver of the 2014 European Team Championship as part of the Russian team. In addition, he is the champion of Russia and Germany. The athlete was unable to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
