Russian MMA fighter Ali Isaev decided to represent Azerbaijan in Bellator
Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Ali Isaev decided to represent Azerbaijan in the American promotion Bellator. He told Match TV about this.
The athlete stated that it was impossible to obtain a US visa on a Russian passport, so he decided to take advantage of the fact that he is a citizen of Azerbaijan. “I fought for this country, my passport remained, there was no choice, and I went to resolve the issue. I will play for my second country, wait until my visa is opened, there is no time at all, ”added Isaev.
The athlete was born in Makhachkala, but in 2007 he changed his sports citizenship to Azerbaijani. He played as a member of the country’s freestyle wrestling team, became the European champion and the bronze medalist of the continental championship.
In 2016, Isaev began his career in MMA. He has nine wins in nine fights.
