Belgian biathlete Langeais pointed his rifle at his head at a World Cup race
Belgian biathlete Thierry Langet pointed his rifle muzzle at his head during the mixed relay at the fourth stage of the World Cup in Pokljuka. It is reported by Eurosport.
During the race, the athlete fell and snow got into the muzzle of his rifle. According to the rules, he had to ask the judges to give him a spare weapon, but the 31-year-old biathlete began to clear the muzzle with a ski pole. The Belgian repeatedly hit a rifle pointed at his face with a stick.
As a result, the Belgian team took tenth place in the mixed relay at the stage in Pokljuka. The French won.
After that, a number of biathlon experts issued a call to disqualify Langeais. This was stated to NRK by the flight director of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Borut Nunar and the journalist of the TV channel Ola Lunde.
According to IBU rules, athletes are prohibited from making movements with a rifle that may be dangerous to others or the athletes themselves or may be regarded by others as dangerous.
