Russian MMA fighter Abdul-Kerim Edilov dies at 31
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Abdul-Kerim Edilov has died at the age of 31. It is reported by BJPenn.
The cause of the athlete’s death is still unknown. The Russian competed in the light heavyweight division.
Edilov signed a contract with the UFC in 2015, but due to a failed doping test, he made his debut in the promotion only in 2017. Then he knocked out the Serb Bojan Mihajlovic. In 2019, the Russian left the promotion. He has 17 victories, 16 of which by knockout, and four defeats in mixed martial arts.
Edilov was a personal trainer for the children of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov. In November 2021, he was appointed head of the Kadyrov secretariat, and in February 2022, he took the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the republic for youth policy, sports and budget control. Last month, Edilov left the post of his own free will.
