The Russian Football Union (RFU) has set a new date for the meeting of the executive committee regarding the withdrawal from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the transition to the Asian Football Confederation (AKF). This became known to “RB Sport”.
According to the source, the voting will take place on December 30. It is noted that the deadline for a decision on a possible transition is December 31.
Earlier, the RFU held two meetings of the executive committee, at which the possibility of moving to the ACF was discussed, but no final decision was made. It was noted that UEFA opposed this initiative. At the same time, the International Football Federation (FIFA) will not prevent the Russian team from participating in the selection for the 2026 World Cup if the country moves to Asia.
On February 28, UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not play in European competitions and other competitions under the auspices of the organization.
