The best national tennis players were honored at the FET ceremony | Other Sports | Sports

The Ecuadorian Tennis Federation (FET) paid tribute to its best athletes of 2022 at the traditional Tennis Gala that took place on Wednesday, December 21, which was attended by leaders, sponsors, former presidents and glories of national tennis.

At the opening of this gala, the president of the FET, Danilo Carrera, highlighted many of the activities carried out by this federation, beginning with its National Circuit, in which more than 800 players from 17 provinces of the country participate.

“Our Circuit contemplates 72 national tournaments each year, of three levels, and where we look for new talents to emerge that make up our teams and represent the country internationally… for this we also have the Junior Tennis Initiative Program, with children from 4 to 10 years old; and the Junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Program, aimed at young people seeking to venture into professionalism”, highlighted the head of the FET, while highlighting the advances in sports infrastructure.

Before starting with the awards, Carrera paused to recognize Dr. Tyrone Flores Pavón, whom the International Tennis Federation (ITF) decided at its general assembly, held last November in Glasgow ( Scotland), grant him the Award for Services to the Game of Tennis, for his 30 years of experience in Ecuadorian tennis.

During the gala, youth and senior teams and Davis Cup players who filled Ecuadorian sports with pride were awarded. Likewise, to the most prominent in wheelchair tennis, masters Y beach tennis.

The central point was the award to the best youth tennis players of the Ecuadorian Circuit in the categories 12, 14, 16 and 18 years old, ladies and men. In 12 years the highlights were Isabella Yépez (Pichincha) and Fernando González (El Oro).

In 14 years, Ana Paula Játiva (Guayas) and Emilio Camacho (Pichincha). In 16 years, Andrea Robles (Manabí) and Felipe Rivadeneira (Chimborazo). In 18 years, Paula Castellanos (Guayas) and Jhon Moncada (Guayas).

National teams also received recognition for their outstanding performance this season. The sub-14 for the South American vice-championship reached in Colombia, which allowed Ecuador to qualify for the World Cup in the category in the Czech Republic. The national team was made up of Tito Chávez, Lucas Yúnez, Emilio Camacho and captain Raúl Avendaño.

The women’s team, made up of Tania Andrade, Valeska Sanmartín and captain Pablo Quiroz, for the bronze medal at the III South American Youth Games in Argentina.

Also the medalists in the Bolivarian Games in Colombia. Álvaro Guillén and Mell Reasco won gold in mixed doubles; In addition, Mell achieved a silver medal in singles. Camila Romero and Tania Andrade obtained a silver medal in women’s doubles. The men’s team was captained by Pablo Quiroz and Doménica González, in the women’s team.

The FET sponsors also had their recognition, as in the case of Banco Guayaquil, Telconet Latam, CNT, BIRM Sport, Betcris, National Lottery and Marathon. (D)
