Kane decides, Tottenham beats third division team and advances in FA Cup

Tottenham hosted Portsmouth this Saturday morning in London and won by 1-0 the duel valid for the third phase of the FA Cup. The only goal of the match was scored by the star of the team, Harry Kane.

In this way, the team advanced to the fourth stage of the competition, since the clashes in this initial straight are decided in a single game, with a second game in case of a tie. The Spurs’ next opponent will be determined by drawing lots.

Tottenham’s next commitment will be valid for the English Championship, the derby against rival and leader Arsenal. The classic is scheduled for next Sunday, the 15th, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time).

How was the game?

The first stage of the match was truncated, with few opportunities. Tottenham had possession of the ball most of the time, but could not be effective in their offensive actions.

The only clear chance of scoring occurred in the first half’s stoppage time, in a shot from outside the area by the South Korean Son, who scraped past the opponent’s crossbar.

Antonio Conte’s team came back better for the final stage and, right in the opening minutes, hit the crossbar with a header by Brazilian Emerson Royal, after a cross in the area. With five minutes on the clock, striker Harry Kane finally decided the game.

He countered with Sessegnon at the edge of the area and corrected a blow to the goalkeeper’s right corner: a great goal.

The London team, then, only managed the result in the final stretch of the match. Midfielder Oliver Skipp had a great opportunity to declare victory in the 30th minute, after a good plot between Kane and Bryan Gil. However, the player isolated in finalization almost in the small area.
