The Blue and White team suspended their training for the first leg of the Peruvian league against Sporting Cristal on November 21 from Tuesday.
Alianza Lima announced this Thursday that it has detected three new cases of COVID-19 in the workforce of their first team and they are already thirteen members infected three weeks before playing the final of the Peruvian league against Sporting Cristal.
The three new positives detected are footballers Edhu Oliva and Dylan Caro, in addition to Jorge Oré, member of the coaching staff led by Argentine coach Carlos Bustos.
These new cases are added to the Colombian Arley Rodríguez and the Peruvians Ricardo Lagos, Miguel Cornejo, Javier Navea, Axel Moyano, Carlos Montoya, José Gallardo, Sebastián Gonzales Zela, Eric Canales and Óscar Pintos.
This circumstance has forced the blue and white team to suspend their training sessions since Tuesday ahead of the first leg of the final, which will be played on Sunday, November 21 at the National Stadium in Lima.
Alliance squad will again undergo COVID-19 tests on Saturday with the aim of finding no more positives and thus obtaining permission from the authorities to resume training with the players who remain available.
The final between Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal will be a reissue of the one starred by both teams in 2018, when Sporting Cristal won 1-4 in the first leg and 3-0 in the second leg.
For Alianza Lima it will be the third national final that it has played in the last four years after having lost to Sporting Cristal in 2018 and to Binacional in 2019. (D)
