Maldonado and Pérez, champions of the Kutxabank League

Román Maldonado and Ibai Pérez were proclaimed champions of the Kutxabank League Couples 2022 after win the final to Asier Del Río and Dan Necol for a result of 23in the Bizkaia Fronton of Bilbao.

The first game was for the Maldonado-Pérez couple (4-10) and it was 1-0 on the scoreboard. In the second, the superiority of Pérez and Maldonado was even greater than in the first, so they went 0-2 in the final (2-10).

The match was very uphill for Necol and Del Río, but they did not give up, they kept working, and they won a third game (10-8) very even. Ibai Pérez broke his shovel in the final stretch of the third game, a circumstance that the Necol-Del Río couple took advantage of to make it 2-1 on the scoreboard.

After winning the third game Necol and Del Río came up, they dominated from start to finish (10-3)forcing the fifth set (2-2).

The final was decided in the fifth game. Pérez and Maldonado recovered from the blows received in the two previous games, but in the final one they passed over their rivals (1-10)and they were proclaimed champions (2-3).

Match for third and fourth place

Ibarguren and Urrutia finished the championship in third place with the victory achieved against Fusto and Gordon by 1-3 (5-10, 10-7, 5-10 and 8-10), in the match prior to the final.

The first set was taken by the Ibarguren-Urrutia couple (5-10)but the second fell on the side of Fusto and Gordon (10-7). In the third, Ibarguren and Urrutia returned to impose their law (5-10). The match was decided in the fourth set won by the Ibarguren-Urrutia tandem (8-10).
