the american team EF Education-EasyPost announced for this Wednesday debut of Ecuadorian cyclist Alexander Cepeda in the Tour of Tuscanya one-day test, the tricolor’s first in a UCI WorldTour team after his signing in August.
Cepeda was part of the Italian professional Drone Hopper-Androni Giocattoli team since 2020 and passed on August 1 to the ranks of the EF, WorldTour team that despite announcing his debut in the Tour of Germany, he postponed his performance with the team until this Wednesday, which will be part of the American payroll.
It will be the 94th edition of this Italian classic that will travel on a route of 199 kilometers, with departure and arrival in the town of Pontedera.
The race is made up of two blocks, the first of 66 kilometers with short climbs to Santo Pietro Belvedere and Lajatico, before facing the first climb to Monte Serrawhich will be repeated at kilometer 168.5 as part of a final circuitto which the platoon will give two laps.
The official list of the test has vest (24 years old) with number 4, accompanied by the Colombians Diego Camargo and Esteban Chavezapart from the British simon carrthe norwegian Odd Eikingthe Japanese Hideto Nakane and the american Sean Quinn.
EF defend this season title achieved in 2021 with dane Michael Valgrenwho will not be in the test as he is recovering from a fall in June, during the Route d’Occitanie, in France.
The Giro della Toscana is part of a classic block which will have its next stop on Thursday at the Cuppa Sabatini (198.9 kilometers), in which the Ecuadorian would repeat performance. (D)
