Michael Estrada was left without a coach at Cruz Azul: Diego Aguirre was fired after the scandalous rout of America in the Mx League

The Uruguayan Diego Aguirre was dismissed as technical director of Cruz Azul on Sunday, one day after the scandalous 7-0 defeat suffered against America for the tenth day of the Apertura-2022 tournament of Mexican soccer.

“According to the results obtained to date, the decision has been made to dismiss coach Diego Aguirre and his coaching staff,” Cruz Azul reported this Sunday in a press release.

Aguirre, 56, assumed the technical direction of Cruz Azul at the end of last May. On June 26, the Uruguayan made his official debut and debuted with a win against Atlas in the Liga MX Super Cup.

Already in Apertura-2022, Aguirre led the sky-blue team in 10 games with a balance of two wins, two draws and six losses to get eight points; the coach from Uruguay left Cruz Azul in seventeenth position (penultimate).

After Saturday’s 7-0 win at the Azteca stadium, the biggest win in the history of the Clásico Joven between Cruz Azul and América, the sky-blue team was the worst defense of the tournament with 25 goals against.

In this way, Diego Aguirre became the first coach dismissed from the Apertura-2022 tournament.
