Olympic champion in figure skating, Canadian Megan Duhamel Twitter reacted to the words of coach Eteri Tutberidze about the removal of Russian athletes.
Duhamel called the Russian specialist’s comments ridiculous. “In the presence of Eteri, the awards at the Olympic Games were not presented due to the fact that she did not follow fair play,” the Canadian recalled.
Earlier, Tutberidze said that she does not accept the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU), which suspended the Russian skaters. “Of course, it’s easier to share medals and enjoy the little things, but where are the basic principles – fair sport?” she noted.
During the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, a doping scandal erupted around Tutberidze’s student Kamila Valieva. In the sample of the athlete from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. Because of this, the awards ceremony following the results of the team tournament was postponed, where the figure skater as part of the Russian team won gold.
