In the month of July, unemployment fell by 448 people in Euskadi, 0.40%, to stand at 111 194 unemployed, according to the data registered in the Basque Public Employment Service Lanbide. July has been the fourth consecutive month with unemployment falling, although with less intensity than in previous months.
Alfonso Gurpegui, Deputy Minister for Employment and Inclusion, has reported that this year’s has been the July with fewer unemployed people since 2008, and the best data of any month for more than 13 years. In relation to the same period of the previous year, 8,008 fewer unemployed have been recorded.
Gurpegui stressed that this month “cannot be taken as an anticipatory element of any future scenario”, since the summer is not conducive to job creation in the Basque Country.
Permanent hiring has been consolidated, and has stood at 26.31% of the total, repeating the pattern of recent months. Of the 70,226 contracts signed in July, 18,475 have been indefinite. This data continues to contrast with the 9.3% with which it closed last year, when the current labor reform had not yet been approved.
Regarding the Income Guarantee Income, during the month of July it has increased by 75 peoplereaching 49,827. In addition, there are 19,385 people who have recognized the Minimum Vital Income, of which 10,129 complement it with the RGI.
Gurpegui has assessed that “it cannot be concluded” how employment will advance in the coming monthsand that in the face of economic instability and inflation it has been “demonstrated” that “the government, companies and workers have the capacity” to deal with problems.
As to Navarra, unemployment has risen by 91 peoplewhich represents an increase of 0.29% compared to June, bringing the total number of registered persons to 31,440. Affiliation to Social Security, for its part, has decreased by 0.03%.
According to the data provided this Tuesday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, in Navarra there are 3,233 fewer unemployed than in July 2021, with a year-on-year decrease of 9.32%, which for the Regional Government represents the “stabilization” of employment in July, “a month that traditionally registers negative figures in labor activity”.
