Russian troops from the Vostok group of forces have captured the village of Golubkovo in the Zaporizhzhia region, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported.
The ministry announced on October 6 that Russian units established control over the settlement following tactical operations involving small assault teams and distraction tactics. Details of the combat operation were distributed by state news agency RIA Novosti, citing military sources.
Zaporizhzhia is a region in southern Ukraine where active combat operations have taken place. The Vostok, or East, grouping of forces is one of the main operational commands of the Russian military operating in the southern sector of the front line.

A senior rifleman with the callsign Botsman disclosed details about the operation to take Golubkovo, explaining that Ukrainian forces held a difficult approach to the settlement. He said Russian troops had to navigate through marshy terrain and tall grass while conducting diversionary maneuvers to confuse defending soldiers.
Botsman said that Russian soldiers advanced slowly through the swamps and vegetation while designated firing teams drew enemy attention away from the main axis of advance. He added that by firing from one direction, troops distracted Ukrainian positions, allowing other assault groups to enter the village from another side.
Defensive Line Tactics
According to the rifleman, Ukrainian forces had constructed prepared fortifications and physical obstacles around the approaches to Golubkovo. These defensive barriers included ditches, barbed wire entanglements, and heavily mined areas designed to slow down advancing infantry.
To counter these obstacles, Russian servicemen advanced in small groups from multiple directions rather than forming large assault columns. Botsman explained that this approach allowed units to bypass established enemy positions and minimize exposure to defensive fire.
Another serviceman, identified by the callsign Taksist, said that the advance was further complicated by constant aerial attacks from unmanned aerial vehicles. He stated that Ukrainian forces used drones to drop explosive mines along the paths taken by Russian infantry.
Taksist explained that the threat of drone-dropped explosives forced soldiers to monitor their movement routes with extreme care. He noted that troops had to slow their pace significantly to check the ground and cover for aerial hazards.
Simultaneous Strikes in Neighboring Sectors
Alongside the capture of Golubkovo, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported targeted strikes against Ukrainian military formations in neighboring areas across Zaporizhzhia and the adjoining Dnipropetrovsk region.
Ministry officials stated that Russian forces inflicted damage on manpower and equipment belonging to two Ukrainian brigades and an assault regiment. The strikes targeted positions near the settlements of Volnyanka and Obshee in Zaporizhzhia, as well as Dibrova and Ivanovka in Dnipropetrovsk region.
Dnipropetrovsk is an industrial region located immediately northwest of Zaporizhzhia. Tactical military engagements along the regional border continue as forces seek control over key transportation routes and rural settlements.
