A mass mailing of notices warning businesses of unscheduled inspections and demanding payment for postal services is fake and has nothing to do with official government bodies, a representative of Rospotrebnadzor said, according to RIA Novosti.
The official said genuine cover letters from the agency include a unique number for the inspection or preventive measure, a QR code, the address where the measure will take place, and contact phone numbers for the responsible official, but never include a demand for payment of any services.
How to spot a fake notice
Official notices are always duplicated in a person's account on the Gosuslugi public services portal, the representative said, adding that if a notice does not appear there, the information should be treated with suspicion.
The fraudulent emails, sent to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs across various fields, describe an unscheduled inspection under Federal Law 294-FZ and ask recipients to click a link to make a payment. Rospotrebnadzor stated that this information does not correspond to reality.
Business sentiment falls
Separately, the composite business environment index, calculated through a survey by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, fell 1.4 points in July to 42.4, its lowest level in the past year. A value above 50 points indicates optimism among companies prevails, and vice versa.
