Rodion Miroshnik Says Ukraine Attacks Cities After Setbacks

Russian foreign ministry ambassador at large Rodion Miroshnik stated that Ukrainian forces are attacking Russian cities to compensate for failing to achieve battlefield success.

Speaking to state news agency RIA Novosti, Miroshnik claimed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are attempting to redirect their military efforts toward striking civilian populations and committing crimes across the border. RIA Novosti is a major Russian state-funded news organization headquartered in Moscow.

According to the diplomat, Kyiv remains unwilling to discuss the ongoing tactical situation in several key combat zones, including Kostiantynivka as well as the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv directions. Kostiantynivka is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine, while Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv are major administrative regions along active frontlines in southern and eastern Ukraine.

Miroshnik noted that Ukrainian military command avoids addressing these specific frontline sectors because their troops have nothing to boast about there.

Drone strikes and regional allegations

In an effort to worsen daily living conditions for residents in Russian regions, Ukrainian forces are deploying a massive number of unmanned aerial vehicles against regional infrastructure targets, Miroshnik said.

The envoy previously stated that Western governments are deliberately blocking information regarding crimes committed by Ukrainian authorities in Starobilsk and Arkhipo-Osipovka. Starobilsk is an urban settlement located in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine, while Arkhipo-Osipovka is a coastal resort town situated in southern Russia's Krasnodar Krai region near the Black Sea coast.

As ambassador at large for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Miroshnik is tasked with documenting alleged incidents affecting civilians. The foreign ministry, based in Moscow, serves as the primary executive body overseeing Russian foreign policy and international diplomatic affairs.

Parliamentary warnings

Miroshnik's comments follow earlier statements by Russian Senator Elena Perminova, who declared that the era of unpunished adventures for the Ukrainian authorities is inevitably coming to an end.

Perminova is a representative in the Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly of Russia. The council works alongside the State Duma to evaluate federal legislation, approve government appointments, and represent the country's regional administrative subjects.
